I took out the old crusty corroded ones and put in 2 new ones when I was originally troubleshooting it. This let me understand why the original box didn't work - on the back it said "Replace battery at least once every 6 months." There was a battery compartment on the side with 2 AA batteries. After a few more tries, I got it to work perfect. 2" travel, so knew I was on the right trail. So I started randomly changing dip switches. I took the newer box apart and found 4 banks of 8-pole dip switches. But no matter, I figured it out what caused the problem on the old box, and got the new one working. That's the problem - no manual, and there's no button labeled 'setup'. Hopefully it will just work as I don't want to fork out another $1k for another DRO system. It is a slightly newer model, a CJX201 he told me. The guy I bought the machine from is sending me another Futaba DRO box, which should use the same scales, but even if it works, I still won't have a manual. I did find one other person with the same problem in a usenet newsgroup, but his post was from over 3 years ago so I doubt he'll ever even see my post asking if he ever figured it out or not. I've called Sumtak USA and Heidenhain USA and they either refer me back to the other one, or tell me that they don't have any archive of information on them anymore. There's some company in China that still appears to carry them, but the entire website is in Chinese. That's why I was looking for a manual or somebody that has one here - Futaba sold this line long ago to Sumtak in Japan, who in turn sold it to Heidenhain, who discontinued the line altogether. Yeah, I've been trying to JFGI for a few weeks now.
